Sheffield Steelers forward Liam Kirk has been named captain of the Great Britain U18 side ahead of the IIHF Under 18 World Championships (Division 2A) in Tallinn, Estonia.

Braehead Clan forward Jordan Buesa will serve as an assistant captain, along with Ben Solder (Okanagan Hockey Academy, Canada).

Interim head coach, Tony Hand, said: “This is a good leadership team. They have respect in the dressing room and they lead by example on the ice.

“Having the right captaincy team is important and I think this is the perfect trio for the championship.”

The six-team tournament runs from 1st to 7th April and GB will face hosts Estonia, along with Australia, Korea, Lithuania and Poland.
