Cardiff Devils have signed former KHL forward Charles Linglet.
The 36-year-old spent six seasons with Dinamo Minsk, also featuring for Medvescak Zagreb and Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod in the Russian top tier – widely considered to be the second best league in the world after the NHL.
In all, Linglet played in 319 KHL games, scoring 74 goals and 196 points, as well as appearing at three IIHF World Championships (2016, 2017 and 2018) for Belarus.
The Montreal native also had brief stints in the DEL, Liiga and NLA, and played in more than 330 AHL games and 150 ECHL games, as well as featuring in five NHL games for the Edmonton Oilers during the 2009/10 season
“Getting Charles Linglet here is a huge signing for us” Devils Head Coach Andrew Lord said.
“There were a few pieces that had to fall in to place to get the deal done. We wouldn’t have been able to get it done without our partnership with Cardiff Met, so again that has proven to be a huge recruitment tool for us.
“In Linglet we are getting a high-end forward and a guy that has been playing in the KHL for the past few years, which is one of the fastest and most skilled leagues in the world.
“We are expecting him to have a big impact in the EIHL this season. He is expected to be in on the weekend ahead of the start of training camp on Monday.”
